'DANGERMAN'

Steve Ital

'Danger Man' is a streetwise tale of warning to all those "flexing for fussing and fighting". This crucial cut was produced by Phillip Gadd in collaboration with Martin Campbell of High Tech Roots Dynamics who record both in the U.K and Jamaica. Campbell is known both as a producer and vocalist and worked closely with the Jah Works label before establishing The High Tech Roots Dynamics in the 90's. Steve Ital is perhaps the newest vocal talent to have been spotted by the Dynamics team.

'JAH DON'T LET ME DOWN'

Gary James The Goldmaster All - Stars

The infectious horn driven skank of ‘Jah Don’t Let Me Down’ comes from Gary James and The Goldmaster All-Stars. The All-Stars are proud to carry on the 'live' playing tradition in their music - the majority of Goldmaster productions are made without sequencers or midi. Strictly live playing, not programming, is the order of the day.

'UNDERGROUND'

Devon Russell / Manasseh

Originally a singer with the vocal group the ‘Tams’, Devon Russell worked alongside such luminary figures as Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry. Here his soulful vocals complement the Curtis Mayfield cover version championing the musical underground. Devon Russell's works continue, despite his passing on - stored in the digital domain both as reissue and revival.

'STRIDE'

Robert Lee / Martin Campbell

Martin Campbell is one of the latest producers to work with Robert at the Record Factory in Jamaica, recording the tracks ‘Too Much War’, ‘Stride’ and I -Spy’. As is typical of a lot of Jamaican talent, not much is known about Robert Lee’s background, except that his singing career blossomed in the 80s when he served as a regular on the King Jammy's sound.

'WISEMAN'

Junior Murvin

Ever since his big hit, ‘Police And Thieves’ in the 70s, Junior Murvin's falsetto delivery has become instantly recognisable. His most recent UK release comes courtesy of the London based ‘Dubwise’ crew who met up and recorded with Junior at his home in Jamaica where he continues to record to this day.

Hits like 'Dancing On A Rainbow', 'When Will There Be Peace' and 'Give We Jah' are all established sound system favourites and his first album ‘Love, Faith And Belief’ is a classic slice of UK roots.

'OVER YANDER'

Mike Brooks / Stingray

ONE BRIGHT DAY

Prince Allah & The Disciples

Out of Greenwich Town, Kingston Jamaica comes one of the originators in roots reggae music, his recordings for the likes of Freedom Sounds and Tappa Zukies ‘Stars’ label have made him a hero for all roots fans. This Nyabingi inspired tune written by Jonah Dan, in collaboration with the Disciples, sees the Prince wailing a righteous message of love and faith like in days of old.
