Event :BHAGDADDIES, MANDRAGORA, TRAGIC ROUNDABOUT, MAX PHASM, NELSON DILATION, CONTINENTAL DRIFTS
Location : THE GARAGE, LONDON

Reviewed by : Clive Subculture The Indoor festi vibe of the Continental Drift Carnival takes over the Garage for a multi-cultural hoe down of acoustic dance crossover. This events kicks off their compilation 'Sounds from the Acoustic Underground' which we've been told includes elements of DUB DIDDLEY amongst drum n bass and electronisized remixes. Max Pashm kicks things off with a percussion driven excursion into arabic flavoured dub, and funky break beat techno as he switches between machine and hand drums, live and solo, until joined by members of Tragic Roundabout for a Klezmer - style knees up with punk and ska flavours. Images of sun baked afternoons at sorted outdoor events are conjured up.
In keeping with acoustic / dance fusion of the compilation project, all of tonight's bands merge into each others sets - Mandragora take over from the Tragics' as the dancing throng swell, and proceed to de-construct the tracks from their 'Pollen' album in a jammed out dub dance, world fusion style before being joined by the belly dancers from Nelson Dilations' Salon Oriental club. The Bhagdaddies brass section join in, and then take us off with their whirling Arabian party music, until the lights come up on a rather different St. Patricks day evening - Nelson carries on Djing, most people aren't in any rush to leave - we've seen familiar faces, networked and had a good time.
